Memory Augmentation System

Anyone living in today's modern world is flooded with information. Our minds are already full and to remember new information can be a challenge, especially if is not used every day. Writing things down can help but not having access to this information in your short term memory means you cannot make associations with information you are processing.
It was these challenges that inspired Greenleigh to create the Memory Augmentation System (MAS) for its own internal use.
After using it for a number of years we are offering it to our clients.
What is it?
MAS is a Microsoft Access Application that helps you remember things. It works by you entering (or importing) Facts. A Fact is a question and its answer. You then do a daily review of your facts. The review process does not require any typing, the question appears on screen and you think of the answer. You then tell MAS to show you the answer. You then score your recall. Based on your score the system will adjust the time period between reviews for that question. It adjusts to your brain.
How does it work?
MAS is based on the brilliant work done by Piotr Mozniak and his application named SuperMemo.
MAS works as follows:
- Enter Facts - a Fact is basically a question and its answer. Facts can entered directing in MAS or imported from an Excel spreadsheet.
- Review Facts - each day, or at least 3 or 4 times per week. The review process will display a question and you try and recall the answer. You do not need to write anything down - the recall is just done in your mind. Once you have recalled the answer or cannot recall it, asked for the answer. You can then compare what you recalled with what was the answer. If you were able to instantly recall the correct answer the score for that fact is high. If you could not remember the answer the score for that fact is low. High scores extended the review time interval. Low scores reduce the review time interval.
- Repeat - do the review the next day.
- Enter any new facts at any time - new facts can be entered at any time.
- You only see those facts that need remembering - facts that are remembered, high scoring reviews, will have longer and longer review periods. This way you are only being asked to review those items that you are having trouble recalling.

- No effective limit to the number of facts - you can enter as many facts as you wish.
- Clean, simple interface - means you can get up and running with MAS within a very short period of time.
- Collections - facts can be grouped into Collections. You review a collection at a time. This is important as you can have your Facts structured by subject matter and place review priority to specific areas if required.
- Questions can include graphics - graphic files can be used within a question. For example, Who is this person?
- Questions can include video files - graphic files can be used within a question. For example, What dance step is that?
- Question text can be long - your questions can be as long as you want.
